Employment Tribunals Annual Report

Earlier this month, the Senior President of Tribunals produced an annual Report on the state, amongst other things, of the Employment Tribunal system.

The Report provides a useful overview of what has taken place in the Employment Tribunal, over the last 12 months, and what can be expected of the next 12 months.

The Report outlines a fall of 70% in single claims and 85% in multiple claims when the periods April to June 2013 and April to June 2014 are compared, and explains that this reduction in claims is due to the introduction of Employment Tribunal fees in July 2013 and Early Conciliation which was introduced in April 2014.

The Report also touches upon some interesting cases, and discusses developments and innovations to the Tribunal system both in England and Wales, and in Scotland.

A link to the report is provided here: http://www.judiciary.gov.uk/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/senior_president_of_tribunals_annual_report_2015_final.pdf

Readers are encouraged to read pages 70 – 90 of the Report, should they want to obtain a useful overview of what has been happening in the Employment Tribunal system, over the last 12 months.
